Thousand Islands Collaborates to Protect the Ecosystem on Tidung Kecil Island

This is part of supporting regional strategic activities

The Thousand Islands Regency administration together with the Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Agency, regional apparatus organization (OPD), Indonesian Engineers Association and PT Taman Impian Jaya Ancol are collaborating to protect the preservation of environmental ecosystems on Tidung Kecil Island, Tidung Island Urban Village, South Thousand Islands Sub-district.

Thousand Islands KPKP Sub-agency Head Devi Lidya said the action was concentrated in the Tidung Island conservation area which includes restocking of clownfish, turtles, baby sharks and planting mangrove seedlings.

"This is part of supporting regional strategic activities. We invite all parties to collaborate to preserve the ecosystem," he expressed, Thursday (4/1).

Center for Marine Cultivation and Conservation (PBKL) Head Jenni Zaenab added, in the waters of the Tidung Kecil Island, his party spread out 500 clownfish, 5 turtles and 15 baby sharks from Sea World, Ancol Dreamland Park.

"We also plant 5,000 mangrove seedlings to expand the mangrove area on Tidung Kecil Island," she explained.

Tidung Island Urban Village Head Hafsah hoped that the collaboration could protect the sustainability of the ecosystem on Tidung Kecil Island and could boost tourist visits.

"We appreciate the efforts of all parties to preserve the nature of the Thousand Islands, especially Tidung Kecil Island, which is a place for conservation, education and agro-tourism," he stated.
